Microsoft Edge Closes Immediately after opening – Solved

There are a lot of problems and issues related to Microsoft, including Windows 10. One of the issues faced by the users of Windows 10 is that Microsoft Edge closes immediately after starting or opening it. As the user, you must wonder why this happens, especially when this issue is counted as the new one. Apparently, the main reason behind this edge crash should be the startup page. As you know, the startup page is the one that is shown when you launch Microsoft edge for the first time.

For you all who are facing the same issue, here is the way to fix Microsoft Edge closing automatically. To do these steps, it is better for you to disconnect the Internet. For the first step, please open Microsoft Edge. Then, click on More Actions which is located on the top right corner under the close button. Next, click on Settings. After that, you will able to see four options under “Open With”. Please select the fourth one written “A Specific Page or Pages”. You will see a bar under that. Just keep it as default or you can also select custom and add any URL.  In the last step, please close Microsoft Edge and re-open it to see if it is fixed or not. If you are unable to perform those steps above and Microsoft edge crashes immediately, you can type anything in the search of Cortana.

If the method above does not help, then it is sure that startup page is not the issue. As the alternative, you can try the second one. this method is called turning on Windows Firewall. Follow the steps to do it. First, look for Control Panel and open it. Then, click on System & Security > Windows Firewall. Next, click on Turn Windows Firewall On or Off from the lest side. Lastly, click on Turn On windows Firewall and click OK. If this one does not help, then please try to delete the browsing story. to delete them all, you have to open edge again. Click on More Action, go to Settings, scroll down to discover Clear Browsing data, select what to clear, and clear them all. those steps will delete the browsing history and also can be a help to fix the issue.


Another alternative is tweaking Registry. Do it carefully so it can be fixed well. First, open regedit. Second, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\LocalSettings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe. Third, right click folder “microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe” at the left panel and click Permission. Fourth, select the third unknown account (S-1-15-3-3624051433….). There, you will only see Read permission selected. Please check “All permission”. Last, click OK and then close the window.
