How to Fix Windows Update Stuck at 0% or Frozen in Windows 10

Method 1: Restart your Windows Update services.

  1. At the same time please press “Windows key” and “X”.  Select “Command Prompt” from the list of choice. Then tap “Yes” at the prompted administrative permission.
  2. After that please type in “net stop wuauserv” and press Enter. Wait a few minutes until the process have finish. Type in “net stop bits” and tap Enter. Wait again for the process to finish.
  3. Then navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistrubution folder. You have to delete all the files and folders inside by pressing “Ctrl + A” and Delete key.  You need to restart your computer, if some of the files refuse to be deleted. After restart, you can try to repeat step one and two then delete the files again.
  4. After clear out the Software Distribution folder, so please restart your computer.
  5. At the same time please press “Windows key” and “X”. Select “Command Prompt” from the list of choice. Then tap “Yes” at the prompted administrative permission.
  6. Then please enter “net start wuauserv” and tap Enter. Wait until the process has finish. After that enter “net start bits” and tap Enter. Wait for the process to finish.
  7. The last please launch your Windows Update again. We suggest you to restart your PC to complete the process when the update completes.

Method 2: Using by Driver Easy

  1. Please download and install Driver Easy.
  2. Then run Driver Easy and click “Scan Now” button. So Driver Easy will scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
  3. After that click “Update” which you need to download and install the correct version of this driver automatically. Or you can click “Update All” to download and install all the correct version of this driver automatically.

Method 3: Run Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  1. Please download the troubleshooter. It will detect the problems with your system automatically that can take a few minutes to solve.
  2. Then please click Advanced Settings, so you will see “Apply repairs automatically”. Click it.
  3. After that click Next to run the troubleshooter.

Method 4: Use System Restore.

  1. Into the search bar please type System Restore.
  2. Then select “Create a restore point”.
  3. After that From System Restore, you can choose an appropriate point to revert.
  4. The last try install the updates again as usual.
