How to Fix ERR_CONNECTION_RESET on Android, Mac, Windows (7, 10)

When you are trying to visit a page in a website and then the page can not establish a connection to the primary website, it is very annoying for sure. In that kind of situation, you will see an error message ERR_CONNECTION_RESET. If you receive this error message, it does not mean that you do not connect to the internet.  In this situation, you are connected to the internet. If you are not connected to the internet, the message will change into ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED. So, if this is not about network issue, what kind of issue is this? The issue is in your web browser or your device.

There are several reasons that make this error occurs.

  •             Certain websites are blocked by firewall.
  •             Registry entries are old.
  •             Connection of internet is interrupted or disabled.
  •             Specific websites are blocked by your ISP.
  •             Anti-virus may blocks the internet connection.

So, to get rid of this error, you can try to apply one of the methods below.

  1. Checking Your Proxy Settings

If your device is Windows 7 or 10, you can start doing this method by going to the Start menu that is in the bottom left corner of the screen. Then, click on the Control Panel and then open it. After opening Control Panel, click on Internet Options and you will see a pop-up. Go to the Connections tab and click on the LAN setting. If Use a proxy server for your LAN option is selected, you have to deselect that one. Then, click OK and now the proxy option in your computer is turned off.

Now, if your device is an android, you can apply this method by clicking on your web browser (default Chrome) in the toolbar and then choose Settings. After that, choose Show Advanced Settings. Then, a tab will appear. In the Network section, select Change Proxy Settings. Then, click on LAN settings under Local Area Network (LAN). At last, you have to uncheck Automatically detect settings and Use a proxy server for your LAN.

But, if your device is Mac you can use this method to get rid of this error by clicking on the Apple in the top left corner and then choose System Preferences. Select Network and then choose the network that you are connected to and select the Advanced option. Now, navigate to the Proxies tab and uncheck everything under Select a protocol to configure.

  1. Disabling Anti-virus Software

Anti-virus software can be the cause of this error because it can blocks a website. It can happen because of the settings that you have set. Besides, the website perhaps is not being a secure website from the view of the software. So, if you are sure that the website that you are going to access is secure, you can click on the icon of the software and then click turn offdisable or something to that effect. After that, restart your browser and then try again. If it works, now uninstall and reinstall the software.
