- Baking Soda
Baking soda can help absorb moisture from the body of bed bugs because of its drying properties. It has antimicrobial properties that can destroy bed bugs. You can spread some baking soda around the crevices and cracks or wherever you find bugs. After that, do not forget to vacuum the soda after several days and re-apply it.
- Diatomaceous Earth
The powder is chemical free. So, you are able to spread Diatomaceous earth around your house or on the area where the bed bugs nest. This product can take more than 10 days to kill bed bugs but the mortality rate is higher than 90%. The small amount of Diatomaceous can even destroy these bugs by dehydrating them. You can add this powder to cracks in the wall and spaces around the bed to get rid of bed bugs.
- Hair Dryer
You can use hair dryer to kill bed bugs. It is because bed bugs cannot tolerate high temperature. So, you can turn on your hair dryer at the highest mode for about 20 minutes or above. You can position it around the mattress seam and infested area for about an hour to get the effective results. The one hour treatment can kill the pest and the eggs. Then, vacuum the heated area and then remove the traces of bug. Do not forget to clean vacuum filter.
- Double Sided Tape
To kill bed bugs, you can also use double sided tape. You are able to attach double sided tape around the bottom of your beds. Then, the bed bugs will get stuck if they try to sneak up on you. This thing can be a good method to check bedbugs.
- Cayenne Pepper
The antimicrobial properties in the cayenne pepper can help you to kill bed bugs. To kill bed bugs using cayenne pepper, you can take 1 teaspoon each of cayenne powder, oregano and grated ginger. After that, boil them in water. Strain and spray the solution around the entering spaces of your room and areas where bed bugs are hiding. The smell of this solution can make the bed bugs go away and prevents them from spreading.
- Scented Dryer Sheets
Some of you perhaps wonder whether dryer sheets can kill bed bugs or not because there are some people who use dryer sheets but they fail to kill bed bugs. Actually, dryer sheets can not kill bed bugs but it can repel them. You are able to place them between mattress, under the bed and under pillows.
