Bed bugs are small insects which feed on blood. If you find this insect in your home, it is surely annoying because they are very disgusting. They also will make your sofa, bed or pillow dirty. Sometimes, it is a difficult thing to get rid of these insects. Moreover, they usually have a lot of eggs and it will be more difficult to clean it.

You may be curious whether the bed bugs can fly or jump. Well, bed bugs do not have wings. It means, they cannot fly. Different from the other wingless insects like fleas, bed bugs cannot jump long distances. Their body is too wide and low to the ground and it makes bed bugs difficult for their short legs to just keep them up and moving. They usually move from host to host and this move is typically accomplished by crawling. Even though they are able to turn fairly quickly while moving, they are not very good at picking up speed beyond their normal pace. Bed bugs are fairly good at climbing. They are able to make their way up most wood, cloths, plastics, paper and some metals. They can do that because of the small hooks in their feet that grab onto small cracks and pores in textured surfaces. Then, because of their rather unathletic anatomy, bed bugs do not do well in busy terrain such as hair or thick rugs. Their legs are not strong enough to push most materials aside like the most insects and the other animals would when traversing via thick grass, hair or brush. They also do not burrow into skin or the other materials because they lack any sort of claws or other tools that would enable this.

Bed bugs are insects that are blood feeding and have piercing sucking mouth parts. In their life, bed bugs experience gradual metamorphosis that consist of eggs, nymphs, and adults. The form of nymphs is very similar to the adults but the adults can reproduce. Female bed bugs usually lay only a few eggs per day. Bed bugs prefers to feed on human hosts and does not prefer pets or the other furry animals. They are transported by people and most often in personal belongings such as purses, luggage, gym bags, or the other items that are kept close to sleep areas. Even though bed bugs are not known to transmit diseases to humans but their bites can cause skin irritation that can be severe in certain individuals.

If you find bed bugs in your bed, then you are wondering how they can reach your bed, actually they use their gifted crawling ability to reach you in your bed at night. They can climb up one of many possible access like your bedroom’s wall, the legs of your bed frame and any furniture or loose bedding that connects your bed to the floor. So, to prevent this, you have to move your bed away from the wall and from other furniture. Then, make sure that there are no hanging skirts or sheets that could be touching the floor.
